WFU-NCSU, 25-23; still a rockin’ good time

Well, in case you were under a rock yesterday and missed the news: we lost the football game. The photo gallery at the N&O tells the story pretty darned well; our offensive line could not make much happen. Despite that, we had a great time. We made new friends of some of the people sitting around us (hello Peggy and Carl!), which was really nice, and discovered they all liked to scream and get into the game, so me getting up and down every single time Toney or ‘Dre or Darrell started running towards us didn’t faze them. Yippee. I can act like a fool and they all think I’m cute. So I’ve got that going for me, which is nice. . . .

The reason I had such a good time was because of our fan-tabulous defense and this guy in particular, who is just a smash-mouth competitor:"Tank" Tyler takes down Wake's Harris for a loss. Photo Credit: Ethan Hyman, News & Observer

Can there be a better nickname for a defensive football player than "Tank"? Mr. Tyler, I love ya.

I just have to give these guys some love: they pumped me up so hard I thought at one point that I was going to lift right off the ground. I was screaming my head off on most of the defensive plays. The guys were jumping up and down and the crowd was responding; it was a complete and total blast.

Some idiot on the message boards said after the game that the crowd was not into yesterday’s game. He obviously was not in the North End Zone, where all of us were going horse. When the guys were down our way, during some plays I swear I felt like we were looking them straight in the eyes and willing them to be tough and stick it to Wake.

This team does not quit. We might have lost the contest, but we sure haven’t lost the year. Lots of football left to play. We are in the race for the ACC title, we have a chance for a bowl, and there is not one single reason to not be optimistic despite the offensive hiccups. I refuse to succumb to negativity when I have guys like Tank to cheer for. Unfortunately, we have to watch a bunch of the next few games on tv and there are only two more home games left! What a drag.

Go Pack!
